Rotary is not just about raising money!

Charter Night

Like most Rotary clubs we have an annual Charter Night, a formal dinner with entertainment, to celebrate each anniversary. Other clubs join us for these events which are a highlight of any Rotary year.

Members are also encouraged to visit other Rotary clubs at their weekly meetings or social events.

Given the spectacular countryside surrounding Ruthin, the club has many walkers who like to get together to explore nearby viewpoints and hostelries.

As well as our regular meetings and fund raising events (which are themselves great fun), we have numerous social events throughout the year. These might include going to see Clwyd Theatr Cymru's rock 'n roll panto, or challenging Bala Rotary Club to a bowls match. Our golfers are also keen to participate in the District Rotary golf competitions in which they have had considerable success.

Another annual competition is the District Quiz and our extremely knowledgeable member, Paul Quirk, along with other masters of trivia and general knowledge, ensure that we always put in a strong performance.

Social events which combine fund raising for particular causes with having a good time are held on a regular basis. Recent events include a Safari Supper, a Gourmet Night and a Jazz Evening, all with food prepared by our own budding chefs, in aid of the Wheelchair Foundation. Trips to the theatre or boating on the Llangollen Canal in June are also typical of the kind of things we get up to in our spare time.
